so i just installed vmware... and ive got to say... its really not up to par with parallels... its sluggish on my MBP 2.0ghz with 2gigs of ram.... and i mean real sluggish... rebooting doesnt seem to want to work.... i do like the interface though but overall, its not that great to work with compare to parallels.... i do realize that this is a private beta but even in the beta stage parallels was much better.....
hope that the next build is more promising
also... i didnt see a way to change the amount of ram dedicated to the virtual machine other then by creating a new vm....

If I look at people with their iphones, i see like less than 5% using anything on their phones. And all of them use the Apple bumper on some iphone 4. I've seen hundreds of iphones in the wild, but I still have to see one non-bumper case in the wild.

Sadly, as long as the Apple fanboys continue to flock to the iPhone unconditionally AT&T will have little to no reason to upgrade the quality of their service.

Metal backing and reception don't go well together. The iPod touch is cleary no "role model" for the next iPhone. In this rumor may be some truth :rolleyes: but the mockup does not show the Apple style at all

That mockup is hideous, but I imagine that the rumor is in line with what you could expect. A thinner iPhone with slightly upgraded internals , e.g. 64GB of storage, A5, 1080p/8MP rear camera, FaceTime HD front camera, larger (3.7-4") screen, and presumably the same or better battery life are almost expected at this point.
I could see the gestures and a tapered design. I think they're going to ditch the ice cream sandwich design for sure.

Look... I don't want to be a hater or anything like that but I have a first generation Ipod Touch... I got it as a present for my birth day, a month latter my wife have an Iphone 4 for her birthday so she sold her 3gs that i used to compare with My phone, the nexus One, look guys I need to be honest here, I got FULL Flash in my phone since it came out in the app market , and so far NOT a single problem with it, I remember when Jobs says it is not possible for a mobile device to have flash blah, battery drain, blah, poor performance blah, blah, blah... Dude flash is Awesome on my Android phone! no lag, no battery fast drain fast, no problems!!! do you guys have any tiny little Idea how @$#%^ cool it is going to www.newgrounds.com on my phone!? do you know!? or just playing online games like the ones on www.arcadepod.com? plus most of the apps are free!!! including that pathetic flash converter browser Skyfire that by the way is being in Android app market for like forever already!!! also it is sad that you have to Root (aka jailbroke) to get 20% more "liberty" with your phone! I already "convert" 4 Iphone users to Android at my job (400 plus workers) the rest are just plain envious of what android is capable of!!! without ROOTING!!! ahhh and don't get me starting in what you can do with a Root Android phone... My next Phone will be the Android HTC G2 that once rooted you can "BOST" to the phone to its real power........... 1.4 ghz!!!!!!!!!!!! i would rather have a better feature and higher quality phone than just squeezing into the usual deadline. If apple thinks it is necessary to push back the release than I think there is always some reason behind it.

That's ridiculous. You don't need to have a daughter to know that sexual harassment of any person, of any age or gender, is wrong.
Besides, I'd rather have my child be in a room with a transgender than be in a room with you. If they recognized a transgender and asked questions, I could answer their question adequately enough. For violent people like you, and the girls in that video, all I could tell them is that some people are ****ed.

I originally waited for the white version (back when it was only delayed until "late summer".) but once September rolled around, I just decided to wait until the 5 came out. With the rumors of the 5 being delayed until fall, I might have to seriously consider some backup plans. I'd prefer to stick with an iPhone, but the 3GS is getting long in the tooth and I will not sign a contract for outdated hardware.

Sounds cool to me. I guess all those people worried about fungerprints on the potencially touch screen iPod are psyched about this. So it is a touchscrenn you don't actually touch? This could really work out if done right. I wonder if you can still control your iPod in your pocked without having to look at it though... the iPod remote will come in handy if not :)

The response means that users are interested in viewing videos -- even if those views are encapsulated in a legacy wrapper of Flash. Once content providers have updated their videos, there will be no need for this bridge.
In case you missed the news, there was yet another zero day bug in Adobe Flash (http://www.grc.com/sn/sn-273.txt). Read that transcript: the bug affects Windows, Mac, Solaris, Linux, and Android (!) devices. Adobe still thinks that quarterly updates of their software are good enough, and the next one isn't scheduled until February of 2011. As Steve Gibson notes in the podcast:
"[Adobe:] how is that quarterly update cycle going for you?"
Apple was not willing to bind the safety and performance of their browser to Adobe Flash. Good choice!

It's also useful in a tech-support/QA environment. A lot of corporations have a standard software environment that all employees must use. Whenever this environment changes, the changes must be tested. It can be very convenient to create and test these new environments from within VMs. This way you can blow away mistakes and problem-installs by simply deleting a file, instead of having to reformat an entire hard drive.
If your company has to support multiple platforms (e.g. NT4, Win2K, XP, etc.), it can be a huge cost savings for your support staff to be able to simultaneously run all of the platforms via VMs on a single computer.
But both of these uses are the kinds of things that really should justify a business license. The real question here is if someone running the Business edition as the native OS can also run the Home edition in a VM - so QA staff can support users running the home edition without needing a separate computer dedicated for the purpose.
