How sleazy of you, Apple.
Almost like stabbing in the back.
Not nice, Apple, not nice.
You know what's sleazy? Working with a partner while secretly copying that partner's work to create a competing product.
Microsoft did this to Apple with Windows. Google did this to Apple with Android. And Samsung did this with their phone/tablet designs and their UI overlay.

I think this will be more useful for accessing your music/videos from your macbooks, more than from your iPhones/iPads. So when I travel I won't have to carry my entire collection with me, I'll just take my MBP and access my music from wifi. At least that's how I'd use this service.

and silence from duervo. how unsurprising.
My answer was in my statement about your assumptions being ironic.
You should have been able to figure it out from that.
The fact that I have to spell it out for you is ... disappointing.

Apples sales volume is staggering, as is their income. These are clear facts that are growing weekly.
With that in mind, the fact that Apple insists on fostering negative energy, launching a law suit, and showing their pro war position to the world, is very revealing of who they are.
Unable to be a good corporate citizen, unable to satisfy their greed as they rake in more profits than the competition, Apples looking rather desperate. Nothing will ever be enough.

This is good to see. High performance chips from Intel and a great design from Apple, this will be fun to see what is announced at WWDC.

I think if anythingm it could hurt apple's image. I don't really see why they should tangle themsleves in the phone buisness. What's out there is good enough, and unless they make more of a blackberry than a cell phone with great features, I really don't care for any rumors regarding it.

2) Maybe all the touchscreen stuff we think is for the video ipod is really for the phone and the dialpad and clickwheel both use a touch sensitive thing to work.
good point. for me after using a RAZR for the past year, i find myself always looking at the phone to dial a number; therefore a "virtual" keypad on a screen would be no different at all, barring the very slight (tho admittedly noticeable) physical feedback of hitting an actual button instead of a virtual one. having said all that, the idea of a iPod size (tho preferably something between a nano + a fullsize iPod) with a virtual keyboard for the phone/limited PDA stuff and a wheel for the music stuff sounds perfect for me. as long as its got something to the tune of 8GB like the new nano i would definitely get it, including swapping carriers if need be.

Every time I get ready to pull the trigger on the 11' something holds me back :D
I don't really need one but I sure want one
My wife and I each have a Refurb 11" MBA 4GB 64 SSD, and we are so in love with them, We each have a OWC 360 GB SSd awaiting the release of LION, we are each replacing 2007 /2008 BMB's, and each adding a 27" ACD when tethered. Wicked machines, make my /our BMB's look like model "T"'s:cool:

Yeah, one of the only ones besides T-Mobile, AllTel, and AT&T Wireless (who they bought out).
AllTel is IS95 ("CDMA") not GSM.
The only two national operators of GSM networks in the US are T-Mobile and Cingular, though there are a small handful of regional networks dotted around the country.

Apple and MS haven't competed against each other since 1993. And back then it was still just on the OS.
Apple has always competed against the entire Wintel PC market...not just Microsoft's Windows OS.
It's all about 2 different business models, essentially centering at the OS:
1)Apple makes, sells, supports the Mac OS and Mac hardware
2)Microsoft, on the other hand, simply creates the OS and licenses it to hardware vendors.
Of course Microsoft is unhappy with this breaking news but they, again, are 2 completely different business models. One could write a small book on the topic.

And that's just the U2 special edition iPod.

You know, I'm thinking people really want an iPhone. And I'm also thinking that they want it so bad they won't even consider the source of this information.
Usually, a rumor like this wouldn't get three pages of comments without somebody mentioning that this story comes from ThinkSecret. In case you're new here, MR readers have a habbit of panning ThinkSecret. It's worse than panning really, it's more like slaughtering any news that comes from ThinkSecret.
It's fun to watch members battle out mobile providers.
Ford! No, Chevy!
I mean...
Sony! No, Sony sucks, buy Panasonic.
I mean...
Verizon! Nooooooo, Verizon drips off donkey b*lls, go with Cingular!
You folk crack me up. Thank you.
HAHA! I was reading all of this and, at about the 2nd page, I thought the same thing as you did. ThinkSecret has really sucked at life lately, they probably got this rumor wrong. And besides, I want Verizon anyways.

Perfect, just the news I've been waiting for. Currently have an Early-2008 model which I purchased in September just in need of a bit more power really! Also welcoming the extra USB ports and built in SD reader, Thunderbolt on the newer ones will be nice for an external HDD!
The built-in optical drive on my iMac seems broken too, keeps spitting out disks! :(
Looking forward to the new models!

This, if it and Ivy Bridge, lower SSD prices/larger capacities come to fruition solidify my decision to stay with my 2010 and wait for the 2012 refresh.

My point is...
1) The Movies take up huge amounts of storage space.
2) I hate having to always plug external drives into my iBook.
3) We need redundancy for storing these movies we buy. An "external HD" just won't cut it.
4) If I want to take my iBook on the road with me, then how are the other people in my house going to access the Movies and other media via iTV if it's stored on my iBook or some "external HD" which requires a host computer to be of any use.
1) Thanks for reminding me, i forgot that fact.
2) But you'll happily have a RAID array and plug THAT into your iBook?
3) Yeah you said, a RAID array... a sort of external HD, but in an array.
4) If you take your iBook on the road with you, then how are the other people in your house going to access the movies and other media via iTV if its stored on your "RAID array" which requires a host computer to be of any use?
You have high expectations for Apple then? Its going to be some RAID array!

Sweet. Another piece of trash off the street. Keep cleaning them up! Let me know where I can send some more bullets.
Maybe this will convince Apple to produce an iGun.

XP shows them with the same names, but it's irrelevant to the discussion at hand. There is no "App Store" in the screenshot.
Shows what with the same names?
And I think it is relevant to the entire discussion. IF they have never used 'applications' in a 'general' or specific way on any type of their OSs then why pick a fight over Apple's use of AppStore, who have been using the term 'Applications' in their OSs and in their ecosystem and brand recognition lingo.
And your right, you don't see an 'App Store' in this screenshot or on any Windows OS or mobile OS.
EDIT: NVM! as noted by logandzwon "Anything ending in .exe will have the same description." Which makes my argument weak and mute.

Except that ColorWare paints the products (AFAIK). A red iPod nano from Apple would be red anodized, not red painted.
Yeah, I posted that earlier - I want the proper matte anodised finish. But RED, not that trendy pinkish colour that's going around at the moment. Proper, primary RED.

Hi, I've been lurking for the last few months waiting for the refresh. This'll be my first home Mac (got a Mac Pro and MBP in my office).
I ordered the 27" i7 Quad yesterday with 2GB 6970 and trackpad. Got the standard 4GB RAM and will add some more myself. It's a shame about the target display mode as I was hoping to use the iMac sporadically as a display in the lounge when my buddies bring their Xbox 360's round but hopefully there'll be a HDMI/DVI/Mini display port > ThunderBolt box. It's a pretty expensive occasional use proposition though and it might be easier to throw a 100 TFT display in a cupboard to get out for gaming.
I look forward to seeing some benchmarks.
