From my own experience the PS3 and the Nintendo DSi all read iTunes purchased music, albeit with some metadata weirdness.Metadata weirdness is what I have encountered trying to use files that I have in iTunes. It does not occur when importing into iTunes though, only exporting elsewhere.
I know that I have plenty of .songname files in my folders as well. Why iTunes, why?
Zune HD for one.
The Sansa Fuze+ line too. Creative Zen, Archos, Sonos, Squeezbox.I might have to get a Fuze then. I need something for the car for the times when NPR just is not up to par. I am looking at you weekends...
I am quite happy just buying used CDs and using LAME.

And immediately upon delivery of the first thousand white iPhones, 75% will end up concealed in cases...
The other 25% left caseless will be abused and scratched by their owners (mainly teenage girls). :p

Remote access with iPad to a Mac works fantastic with a number of programs / utilities... Just Do it :)
Agreed! I use LogMeIn Ignition paired with a Bluetooth mouse and it works quite well. So much so that I'll be replacing my 2009 MBP with a new iMac when they are released next week.

the virtual appliance stuff will be great for people who host their own casual low-traffic blogs and such. i was doing that, but then i worried that someone would hack in and screw with important files. knowing that the server is in a virtual machine would make things a lot nicer.

Also iMacs are still shipping in 24hrs on the apple website, a good sign that the new iMacs are not coming just yet.
Well, that could be interpreted as:
If you order an iMac now, it will ship tomorrow. It just might be a newer model than the one you were expecting! :D

Why would it?? It's not a feature release.
#.#.X releases are bug fix releases.
Well... is "faster" a feature?

Apple leveraged iPods to sell iTMS, and iPods to sell Macs, but Microsoft can use MediaPlayer/Vista/Urge to push its WMA players. Controlling 90%+ of the world's desktops with XP and soon with Vista, they have an opportunity to push the iPod and iTMS right off the map. It already seems well on its way to happening with movie downloads.
I am not saying that MS will do any of the above, but they are sure well positioned to do so. If Vista manages to successfully push people to register their credit cards at Urge, and WMA playback capability becomes a must-have feature, Apple will have a lot of trouble on their hands.
Say a prayer that Jobs manages to not only deliver must-have sexy devices, but that he makes iTunes a whole lot more impressive for Mac and especially for Windows so that people won't even want to use Media Player. If people adopt the new Media Player 11, and quietly infect the world with WMA/WVA media, watch out. In truth, the player doesn't have to be that good. It just has to play the media that people actually have. Hence their rumoured willingness to swap protected AACs for WMAs. That along with OS dominance is where the danger to iPod/ITMS exists.

How would an operating system KNOW it is being run in virtualization? It cannot determine the difference from a real computer. We are talking about Vista like it is an artificial intelligence of some kind.
I suppose that depends on how you define artifical intelligence... Anyway, to answer your point, Vista can determine if you are running the software in a virtual environment. Virtualization requires the OS to be embedded in further software, and that software has distinct signitures that can be pulled out by the OS. It might be possible to add patches to prevent Vista from seeing those signatures, but who knows.
On another front, if MS were wise, they would take some advice from Apple's iTunes and use a deactivation feature. This would prevent a huge stress on their phone support and tremendously add to user happiness. If there ever became an issue with Windows, or someone needed to upgrade, then they could go ahead and deactivate that copy of windows or deauthorize the account (through safe mode in the case of OS problems). Then, the software could be reinstalled without worry and reactivated.

Hyper-Threading (Intel Core i7 only) a technology that allows two threads to run simultaneously on each core. So a quad-core iMac has eight virtual cores, all of which are recognized by Mac OS X. This enables the processor to deliver faster performance by spreading tasks more evenly across a greater number of cores.
-.-
Come on only Hyper-threading with the i7 -.-
I was looking to verify that . . . it blows now that I know. I didn't want to have to spend the extra $200 for HT.
That's something I'll put on my list when I look at the next base model Mac Pro.
Wouldn't it be smart to wait for Lion in 2 months and get that for free...
Yes, it would, and I'd recommend that for anyone that doesn't need a new machine right this very minute.
I personally, needed one since I sold my Power Mac G5 almost 3 years ago. I've been dying ever since at the home office. I'd pay the $129 or whatever to get Lion later, and drop the cash on the iMac now if I needed a machine right this very minute.

Verizon?
But they have already said (albeit rumor) the iPhone will have the qualcom dual mode chip, so they are apparently not going to continue to build separate devices in the future.

They won't. Even if this deal gets approved, T-Mobile will remain a separate company. Everything will remain as it is, except the fact that all revenue will go to AT&T.
this is probably what they were saying over at the Cingular offices at the time of that deal...Tmobile will be independent NOW...once the deal is finalized...no more Tmobile just the Death Star

I've had them all since Gen one excpet for the Video. Lost my Nano and gave other away. Now just have a Gen 3. Need a new one here soon when they make a car adaptor for the optical bus equipped BMWs. Gen 3 will go there and the new one will be for home, work and travel.
Is the smart play to wait a month or two?

Hmmm, why would an update of Front Row be deemed top secret...
"Top secret" also probably means "not developed enough to show yet".
I seriously doubt any or many features are actually being withheld to stop MS from implementing them.

yeah for real. but that iMac sure does seem nice
Someone claim the got 43 mins frame time on the biadv with a core i860 and Linux, same CPU as the higher end iMac. That is the same as my 3Ghz 8 core Mac Pro. You think it is possible?

Good thing that Apple takes parental controls as seriously as they take porn in their Disney store... Oh, wait. They don't.
Hello?!
Why it is Apples job to "control" kids?
Typical attitude these days:
Somebody "f#$%^%$ up and it's just gotta be somebody elses fault!
There's got to be a way that they can sue Apple for several millions over this.
After all Apple allowed somebody to log into itunes.
