I, for one, would be happy to spread the Word to the ignorant masses if Apple came out with a cute little white tower to match everyone's cute little white iPod. :P The Mini's nice, and the new iMac is nice too, but I think this thing could help Apple a lot in the desktop segment. I'd say something like that's bound to come out at some point, but when is the big question.
Also, it's probably been mentioned earlier in the thread, but does anyone know how long after Kentsfield Clovertown is supposed to come out? I heard "early 2007" a while ago, but with Kentsfield coming out so early, I would think Clovertown won't take that long.In two weeks at the Intel Developer's Conference in San Francisco, I think Intel will tell us exactly. But from what I've read recently, looks like Clovertown will be shipping no later than November. So looks like worst case scenario will force Steve to have to introduce 8 core Mac Pros in four months at the MacWorld Expo San Francisco SteveNote January 9, 2007. I don't usually read SLA's, but it's all right there, Page 1, Section 4, subsection b. And if don't want your iPhone to collect this data, turn off the feature.

Interesting find - but it seems that it is not possible to turn just the data collection in the center of this discussion off. You can only turn everything off or specific apps (but I don't think I saw this one listed somewhere as an app)

I've just used the software on my iPhone 4 backup, and was looking at timeline and the locations. I noticed that at the same time point, the map was showing use in Swindon (where I am) and High Wycombe (65 miles away), as well as in London (80 miles away) at the next date stamp, but i've never been to either of those places ever with my iPhone.
The only thing that I can think of is because my phone is a replacement from Apple because of a faulty home button (which could be refurbs according to some sites across the net). It seems as though the backup takes the cell tower data from the phone from any point in its life, and cannot be wiped.
Any other ideas?

It should not have dual Thunderbolt. It should have 1 Thunderbolt (without DisplayPort if required) and 1 DisplayPort 1.2
The discrete graphics chips in the new iMacs support up to 6 displays (including built-in), but this is crippled by Thunderbolt.

And for a lot of things I can chose to opt-out, or even better, I get to opt-in.
This is stored without me knowing, the data is stored unencrypted, and for most owners, the data will end up on their computers unencrypted.
Apple, Google, or my phone provider storing this information in their servers is a different issue than it being stored on the phone.
So did you opt-in that the government / law enforcement gets the tracking data of your phone (smart-phone,dumb-phone,whatever-phone) .... well does not really matter because they don't care if you opted in or not, they just store it on THEIR server (which is quite different than having it on my phone and my laptop with only me having access ... well its still stored on the government server)

iTunes is made by APPLE so of course its going to have application as the file names. Show a MS production that uses application as a term.
Again why cant MS just call is their MobileApp store? Adding mobile to the front of app would solve their problems no?

"Shooting To Wound" is purely a product of television, movies, and video games. In real situations where gunfire is exchanged, milliseconds count, and center mass until the target is down is the ONLY reality.
I know. And heroics by gun toting civilians is mostly a product of fantasy as well. The idea of whipping your gun out to save the day is absurd. Most shootings occur with no warning. If you were always hyper-vigelent and ready to brandish your gun, you would likely be a danger to those around you.

I'm with you. As a MVNO, Apple could kick Helio's ass. Maybe they are becoming an MVNO and they're leasing their network time from Cingular? That makes sense, don't it?

I like having the ability with my SE T637 that I surf for free midi files, download them to my mac, connect to the phone via bluetooth and upload the midi's - voila, free ringtones. Sure, some of them are cheesy, but I'm not paying $1 per ringtone.
I'm already (over)paying for a .mac account. I really don't want to pay more money again for a portal between my cellular account and the .mac account. Sadly, that is probably what the reality would be and probably rightfully so - technology isn't free.

The mockups always look real, but when the actual product comes out, it's wayyy cooler than the mockups. Look at the 5G iPods and its fakes.
Everyone seems to know that Apple is waiting to release a phone. It's only natural after all the success the iPod's doing.
As for when this phone comes out, It'll probably be Cingular at a "one more thing" event in october just like last year.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... it's really easy to hook an iPod up to a TV (http://podophile.com/2006/08/16/watch-ipod-videos-on-your-tv/) to play videos. Just one cable. You're not limited to the iPod screen or your computer screen.
I actually have that cable. I've only used it a couple of times on my TV for kicks. After seeing the quality though, I decided never to do it again. :D Besides, all of the stuff I have on my iPod Video, I have on DVD. I just use it at work during lunch sometimes, or on trips. But hooking your iPod up to your TV should be done only if you have no other choice IMO. :)

Anyway, here is my two cents.
Going a certain speed above the limit is not unsafe in itself. What makes 90 MPH+ unsafe is no one else is going 90 MPH most likely. The difference in speed between you and the rest of traffic is the unsafe situation. If everyone was going 90 MPH as you were, then going 25 MPH over the limit is irrelevant as there isn't an unsafe situation given that everyone is going 90 MPH, paying attention to the road, etc.
Now don't get me wrong, I hate people who cruise in the left lane as well. I don't care what the speed limit is, if traffic is moving 80 MPH in a 70 MPH zone in the left lane, then you go 80 MPH or stay out of the left lane. If you go to pass someone and change into the left lane, then speed up to the speed of traffic or change lanes when there isn't going to be someone behind you so you don't cut the person off that was in the left lane already going faster than you are. I also don't care if you want to be a cop-wannabe and slow faster traffic down to the speed limit which in that case your cop-wannabe butt is causing an unsafe situation, not everyone going 10 above the limit. Just change lanes and let them pass. It is safer for everyone if you do that. And please do pay attention to your surroundings and don't create a rolling roadblock. Is it that hard to keep situational awareness?

You don't tailgate people, don't honk, etc. Flash to pass is a concept that no American knows about because our drivers ed courses are pathetic. But, it still doesn't excuse what you did and I hate drivers like you. Please slow down.
I am a big proponent of making drivers ed as tough as it is to get your private pilots license.

The AirPlay private key wasn't made public by Apple for the same reason the FairPlay private key wasn't-- having the private key essentially gives you access to an unencrypted stream of whatever content is encrypted by AirPlay.

An important detail is that one needs to add the graphics TDP to those Intel numbers, so there's still hope for some Llano goodness.
uh... They already are included. The graphics processor is on the die and the TDP of the chip is for the CPU and the GPU. So do the Llano CPU.

Dude, it's a MacWorld convention, not an environmental love-in. GP needs to get their own convention. They were on private property - the conf organizers have the right to do what they want. Never mind their rights, huh?
