Perhaps you should spend some time looking at the facts - there are non-Android Linux-based mobile systems out there.
If you knew that, the IDC comment is spot on.
Not sure what you're on about but the quote implies that Android is not a Linux-based mobile OS which is factually incorrect. I realize it's not a pure Linux but it is very definitely Linux-based (or more specifically derived from the Linux kernel.) It just sounds to me like the author, who differentiates Linux from Android, doesn't understand that.

I didn't say that at all. What I said is that it's been documented throughout history that people, animals, plants, and any other form of life on Earth go through phases where large groups die off. Yes, we are intelligent, educated animals with intellect and compassion, and it is therefore our job to try and curtail those deaths that are unfiar and inhumane. What I'm saying is that when a group of people emerge (not ALL the African people - namely the group of African men who have decided that it is their duty to rape, impregnate, and pilage to their hearts content) who commit crimes against humanity, and then start to wreap the whirlwind, it's "natural" for those people to eventually meet their end - whether it be natural or otherwise. There are an AWFUL lot of African people who are compeltely innocent and in many ways helpless and it is our duty as leaders of the free world to help in any way we can. Of course - that's obvious.
But we also have to leand creedence to the idea that there's a portion of the African culture that is too deeply rooted for us to change, and that has to be allowed to die out on its own. Not the people themselves - the notions that are ingrained in that culture that have caused this problem. Those notions need to die off, and that will only happen in time.

Yeah, this is pretty exciting news. I had already planned to call Verizon this morning to see when my contract is up.
EDIT: $175 termination fee per phone and a good while to go on the contract. Yeouch! I may just have to keep my fingers crossed that Verizon Wireless gets the iPhone late next year.
Yeah, the termination fee is harsh, but I'm honestly not sure I could last another year and a half without throwing my Razr into a trash compactor. I like the phone, but the god-awful interface that Verizon loads onto it is another story.
A cell phone should NOT require hard reboots.

That's cool, I was told I was delusional when I said that Meroms would ship in mid-2006 and the eMac would be replaced by an iMac with GMA950 too. :D

Apple is starting to be less and less inovative. The iPhone UI hardly changes for the last 4 years. But hey, lets sue everybody.:rolleyes:
That's the whole point: do it right the first time and stay consistent. People don't want to learn new things all the time. There's so many 30+ year olds who are seriously afraid to upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7 because it seems so different. I like buying the new version of something I already know as opposed to not knowing at all what I'm buying, spending precious hours of my life learning how to do the things I already could do on my old gadget.
When you buy a car you know how to drive it, set the mirrors and seats without reading the manual. If someone came out with a car without pedals and steering wheel, there will be a lot of people rejecting it before even trying it out. People don't want to learn to drive again. Innovation in user interfaces is when you take something that used to be complicated and make it simple. If it wasn't complicated from the beginning, there's no reason to change it unless you notice you did something wrong.
Lots of smartphones are total iPhone ripoffs with added features. They're seemingly slower, more complicated and crash more though. There's some things I absolutely hate about the iPhone, but it's an okay tradeoff.

Yes, it is getting worse, you can tell, the media says we are no longer in a recession... ;)
Yes, my friends did find work, but they can barely make ends meet and a 1/2 car ride each way turned into a 1.5 hour car/train/walk each way.
They're not happy... (2 hours extra of commuting for a job where you need to whip out the credit card for essentials like food and gas).
It will definitely be interesting how things will churn out...

Everyone and their pet rumor site is expecting upgrades. We weren't expecting across the board superdrives. I now am.
Personally i'd trade that superdrive for GMA965 with x3000 graphics, but thats about as likely before MWSF07 as a bullet proof string vest.

We finally agree on something! Been waiting for ability to hook up two ACD's to iMac since I converted to Mac in 2009. I hated the possibility of having to go Mac Pro for triple displays.

With the decent graphics and these C2D's they make the iMac a formiddable machine. Alot of PowerMac's are going to be replaced by these new iMac's i feel. Probably Apple's most impressive, solid and reliable machine at the moment
No one who needs powerful graphics could go for anything except maybe the 24". The x1600 is pretty low-end for a mid-range desktop by now, and the nvidea 7600 is not bad but certainly not a powerhouse. And why would you say that the imacs are more "impressive, solid, and reliable" than the mac pros? Better values, maybe, but more impressive, solid, and reliable? :confused:

Kind of a huge gap, don'cha think? For an extra $100 I can nearly TRIPLE the capacity? Why would I even consider a 30 GB model?

I think the big advantage to this downgrade will be buying clearance and refurbished Nvidia-based MBAs for 25% discounts... Unless Apple somehow fits a standard voltage SB CPU in the 13" MBA, I think most will be better off with C2D and Nvidia 320m at discounts.
Exactly what I was thinking I'd much rather have the 320M it makes youtube and other graphics accelerated apps so much better than the 9400M, can't imagine downgrading to igp.

Google is buying up Dark Fiber. That means no end points into homes like Verizons FIOS has. The bottleneck for full length high resolution movies will be from decentralized distribution centers to the homes. Dark Fiber is helping, but not by much.

Probably not. If the bankers had worked sensible hours they'd have been better integrated with society as a whole which would almost certainly have made the financial crisis less likely.
