Ok, I'm a noob to Apple and Macs, so bare with me.
I have an old 15gig IDE drive that I formatted on my windows system and installed it into my G4 Powermac AGP. What do I need to do to use it? It won't find it anywhere in there. Do I need to remove it and run MacDrive on it and format it under HFS/+HFS?
Thanks for any help
David

not to surprised by this. The Best Buy around where I lived took a hammering from Fries when it opened up. Fries s bigger and has a wider selection of the things i am generally looking for so I tend to go there.

It's been interesting to see how many disparate markets have been turned upside-down by the iPhone and iPhone-like smartphones. Camcorders (the Flip line, 80% of the market a couple years ago, was shuttered yesterday), digital still cameras, portable gaming devices, music players, netbooks, and on and on.

You've gotten to do some really awesome things and now you've got the money and time to find and do more of what you want!

Not trying to shoot down a good idea here, however, I do not see using GSP and Google maps as a mainstream use of Iphoto or some other PDA type application. I do see some very specifice uses where this can be very useful.
However, the technology is to problematic at this point, like I pointed out GPS does not work indoors, and someone pointed out that it could easily assume the nearest location you were at outside before going indoors. This assumes you keep the devices on all the time and not just turn it on when you went indoors. For the most part Cell phone does this, but a camera which most people use to take picture will not be. So all you got is location that camera was last outdoors which could be 100's if miles away.
Some did hit on the idea that might work and is was that website where people posted pictures form cell phone and they were linked to a google map location so people could see points of interest. All this feature allows people to do is have it all done for you verse having to remember where you took the picture and then find the location on google maps and attach it.

I mean that the iteration of Thunderbolt will hurt for me, by getting a MBA now with out it.
The HD3000 is slightly less powerful than the 320m GPU. So with a higher resolution display on the MBA the HD3000 would perform worse than the 320m currently does? This is my thinking and why I think Apple didn't increase the resolution of the current MBA instead of suffering a major decrease in GPU performance. I'm thinking that the Intel graphics performance will degrade much quicker at higher resolutions than the Nvidia does.
Only in gaming scenarios and other OpenGL applications. For the desktop, these GPUs can power massive external monitors with no problem. It's not like GPU power required to push out the kind of resolutions we're talking about here haven't been around for close to 10 years. My old Matrox G200 with 16MB of RAM could do it without flinching.

Let the Verizon people have their day. When their calls start dropping and their network gets bogged down, they'll shut up. ;)

thanks, hex monkey, for the link! strangely (or perhaps not so strangely?!), when you download and use wtpro, they explicitly state that it is *not* free software and that it must be registered within 30 days...no mention of free functionality...alas...

a little but that says for macbook or macbook pro does this apply with mac mini?
Yes, as they share the same ports, like Mini Display Port and the analog/digital (optical) audio out port.

Now that VPN does not work directly from the iPad, Instead of jail breaking your device and hacking on some illegal source (which they can make some validation code later that you cannot hack in yourself). Why not connect to a vpn'd tether (iphone / android device). Essentially it is the same thing but the IOS api cannot account for if the device being connected through vpn.
I thought of that but have not had the chance to test yet.

I don't think the shuffles ever had special educational pricing, and I'm not sure the nanos ever did either.
I think they all had discounts. I know for a fact the nano's did. Not much but they did have a discount.

Since the table layouts were pulled and the page is now heavy with CSS, iCab no longer renders Macrumors correctly. Specifically, the sidebars both get rendered at the bottom of the page, below the main content zone.
Please note, this is not a complaint! The advertisements in the sidebars were distracting, it's nice to only see the top banner now, go right to the stories. :)
iCab 2.82 for OSX.

Flickr already stores location information for photos - not GPS-based, but you can browse maps and assign pictures to a specific location where you took them, and then search/browse all users shared photos by location. I could see iPhoto doing something similar, with the add-in of recognizing GPS data.

Are you on 10.6.7?
Yes, I update'd to latest. I am suprised that no one else is having this issue.
