    Hello there!

I set up a mac mini server for my little company a few months ago and I find it to be overkill for the simple tasks I use it for. Originally I planned to setup a web hosting service, an email server and a wiki but our needs didn't grow as I expected and we found simpler alternatives.

Anyway, I am now thinking about selling it but I was wondering if it was simple to transfer the Mac OS X Server license. I can't seem to find info online on how to do this and I don't want to sell a product which won't easily be usable.

    Any tips on doing this?

    Thanks!

I think that local connection is what they used - cool stuff. Is that in MX 2004 or the newest version?

clayj - that works in the single flash object on your page - layers in the same main file. What local connection is doing is having two or more separate flash objects on a page among regular html text and images and communicating between them.

Thanks for the reply Laird but think it's the keyboard at fault (just bought on ebay). With Keyboard Viewer open when I press the alt key the corresponding alt key on the viewer doesn't go grey as all the other keys do when pressed.

Wondering if the MB138LL/A Mini with C2D 1.83 and 1gb of Ram will handle 720p videos. I have ripped many of my movies to mkv files and I am worried that the GMA built on Video card will cause me issues. Some of my files range from 1.56gb to 4.6gb in size. I pick up the machine on the weekend so any help woudld be appreciated.

    Thanks

Since you have the mini, why don't you just play the files and see how they play?

People who want an iPhone will buy an iPhone.

My point was - with either rumored scenario, it seems that 3GS owners looking for a upgrade are going to deal with more buyers remorse than normal.

Buying something 6+ months before the new version gets released is normally not an issue, so if a new iPhone comes out in Sept, I could reasonably get an iPhone 4 now and not be a "generation behind" so quickly. But if I were to get one now (expecting a Sept launch) and the new one comes out in June, that'll suck. But waiting till June just to find out the new one will be in Sept would also suck... There doesn't seem to be a way to "win" with this update...

The line about looking elsewhere comes from my phone seemingly deteriorating in front of my eyes and the need for an upgrade not being satisfied by Apple. I'm not a blind fanboy that HAS to stick with an iPhone - it's just been the best phone I've used for the past 4 years (user since 2G). But with this shift in the timeline, the "new phone every 2 years" turned into a "new phone every 28-30 months"? That's too long. My phone probably wont last another 6 months...

IF you modded, that you can run linux on it, then it's very easy to put folding on it. I will try to convince a friend of mine who mods Xbox's and try it on his, if he wants to. He is a bit carefull with folding, I explained it to him a couple of times, but he doesn't get it. :(

You can use your MacBook's HD, just not as an internal... only an external.

If you have a proper enclosure (Remember, MacBook HDs are SATA, iBooks are IDE!) you can use it over USB or FireWire.

As for RAM, though, you're out of luck. Gotta grab up a 1GB stick of DDR, which is unfortunately expensive. A 512 would also help, in a pinch.

Just wait for the releases by Otterbox and Switcheasy. Those will be your best bets.

Switcheasy has a silicone case, but they will most likely release a hard shell case in the future (I would assume, at least.)

Then why not do the same with Office and windows game companies and X360 (no mac support)
If you mean the Office formats, then yes they should, since as with music Microsoft do not create the contained data, they just wrap a format around it. However there is a huge difference between DRMd media content and PC/XBox games. The games cost the companies millions to develop on each platform, and it is their intellectual property in the first place. Adding DRM to someone else's music takes a push of a button.

There has to be a dominant player in every market... THATS LIFE:confused:
I don't get your logic there at all. As I've just said, DRMd media isn't the same as software. If I didn't want a dominant Sony Walkman 20 years ago, I bought a Panasonic and my tapes still played. If I decided my Philips DVD Player was rubbish, I could buy a JVC and the DVDs still played. As far as I'm concerned, anything I OWN, I should have fair use rights over, even if I wish to change the make of my player. Steve Jobs makes a big deal about us OWNING our music when we buy from iTunes. If I truly own it, I should have the right to use it how I wish. Which is it?

 Marginalisation:confused: How so??? Apple has continually raised the bar for other companies online stores and players to be better so that they can even compete with the iPod and iTS.
That part of the comment was aimed more at the Microsoft DRM. I've been locked out of two streaming services now that I used to pay for, simply because they suddenly started requiring Windows DRM. Flip4Mac want to add Windows DRM to their Mac product and re-open such services to Mac users, but Microsoft won't let them. There are Linux users similarly locked out of iTunes. Therefore I have to conclude that any one company having rights over my ability to access paid-for content on the Internet isn't in my or your interests, even if that company is Apple.

If DRM is necessary, it should be interoperable between different manufacturers. The aim of it should be to prevent illegal copying, not allow vendor lock in.

I'll have to check my old Apple Catalogs.

I think it's their radio/cooler logo bag from the late 70's...

    Anyone can buy them.

ICO HD + SoTC HD + The Last Guardian + Project Dark(Demon's Souls spiritual successor) = More win than the brain can sustain.

Add trophies to the mix and this just became yum yum.

    Bless

I would personally be pleased if trophies and achievements were dropped. At the minimum, don't pop up on the screen that I got one. It bring me out of the experience.

I hear a few games are actually more helpful with 3D from what I read GT 5 utilizes it like you can see a little better who's behind you etc and NBA 2k11 shows of pretty well especially during replays.

3d wouldn't necessarily help to see who is behind you. It has the possibility to help you see how far behind you they are.... I really doubt it will make ANY game better. It sure didn't make Nintendo's Virtual boy good :-D

I can't seem to save it. I put the cd in the drive, Quicktime opens & does nothing. When I click on File, the only drop downs are, Open URL, Open File and Open Recent....all of the save options are not highlighted.

I know there is something simple that I'm leaving out but have been having a hard time with my brain lately...... please excuse the mess!!:confused:

when I pull up Spotlight, it has it listed down in movies and top hit but again, Quicktime opens full screen and just remains black.

HELP a girl out my friends!! Please
    thanks:D

Hi. I need some help with a malfunctioning color stylewriter 2500. Whenever I try to make a test page, it just passes through the printer without printing anything. I've already replaced the ink cartridges. Any ideas?

Has this problem just occurred or did you dis-assemble the beast and this problem began after re-assembly?

There are cams that need to be aligned together on the rear paper feed tray for things to happen correctly.

You might also want to pay attention to the paper feed sensor which might be telling the machine that paper is "permanently" loaded. The logic here is that the printer is trying to eject the paper it "sees" when turned on before loading a new sheet to perform a self test, but because the paper feed sensor is jammed it's as if the paper never leaves the printer.

    Does that make sense?

EDIT: I should ask, does it sound like it's printing? IE, does the printe head carriage move left to right or does it just feed the paper only?

Is there an easy way in R to change the variables in a column, say 'blue' 'red' and 'green' to 1, 2, and 3?
