I prefer to see the apps pulled. Some apps are best not available. Maybe we could add others, like the locations of the various whorehouses, and best corners for buying drugs.

I can't wait to see what people will come up with for Thunderbolt. I am disappointed that Apple hasn't released a cable for your iPhone/iPad though =/
It would be pointless until an iPad/iPhone came out that supports Thunderbolt. The current dock connector is limited to USB 2.0 speeds.

I'll need to go back and read the thread and this has p-robably already been posted, but I think that the "big" iPod update was really weak. The other two got some major improvments and fig facelifts. The regular iPod got a resolution upgrade and a bigger hard drive. Woo. Pardon me for not being too excited. :rolleyes:
You're not alone, a number of people have expressed their opinion that this is a weak update, but no one really seems to offer what they expected. How is it weak? Is is weak because it's not a touch screen wide aspect ratio iPod? What else can they do to these things short of coming out with a completely new design?
Apple will have to offer something extremely impressive and cutting edge to replace the 5G iPods, and they are surely working on it, but these things take time. One of the things we appreciate about Apple is that they don't normally put out buggy crap (MacBooks notwithstanding). We can forgive them that since they were needed quickly. I know all of us 5G iPod owners appreciate our iPods are not outdated just yet. I for one welcome the changes, my 5 year old appreciates PacMan, and the syncing between two computers is freaking awesome!!!!

Unless an app is breaking the law, then they have no authority and should have no reason to concern themselves with apps.
It's already been said, these checkpoints are posted in local papers, this is just an app that makes that information easier to access.
I bet Apple pulls them. RIM already did. Companies far too often cave to the illogical or crazies rather than standing up for what is logical and right.

I'm all for protecting the environment, but sometimes it gets out of hand. Greenpeace should be there, but it is evident that Apple is already working on being more environmentally friendly. Greenpeace should have been kicked out for violating their contract.

A shame about scrapping the idea of a ground up design - I hope that doesn't lead to a lack of innovation. That's what really leads Apple along! Although if they just make a killer phone (I'm sure they will at some point...) it's bound to sell buckets loads!

portal player had the software, pixo designed the UI, toshiba had the new 1.8" hard drives and tony fadell who came up with the whole idea was an outside vendor who pitched the ipod to real networds first (who turned them down, genius).
now admittedly, it was apple, jobs and ives' that took a good idea and refined it to being the great product introduced in '03, but the ipod was an interesting break from apple's NIH syndrome. so much so that i question the TS report about apple going for a ground up design.

Netbooks do not have optical drives. Ultraportables do.
The MBA looks good as a netbook. It looks bad as an ultraportable.
MBA and MBP are two different markets.
MBA is for people that want light. MBP is for people that want a full featured notebook.
So you want a big MBA.
If they could have the same processors, that would happen already at 13".

I don't see HP Envy owners complaining about their lack of an optical drive inside their machines nor do I see people knock that particular fact about the Envy.

Kind of a huge gap, don'cha think? For an extra $100 I can nearly TRIPLE the capacity? Why would I even consider a 30 GB model?

You do know that all this talk of Wal-Mart only applies to the US? They mean nothing out in the rest of the world, which is where Apple is taking this service.
Wal-Mart of big, but they are not that big.
Apple can still make a lot of money with Disney for the moment, they have the hearts of minds of children everywhere and parents are inclined sometimes to do things for their children, including downloading movies.
Then there is art house movies and independent movie companies which probably never see the light of day in a Wal-Mart store. There is to much going on that could be stopped by Wal-Mart.
Sucks to be them but they are not exactly the nicest company around.

If this "mall cop" also happens to be an off-duty police officer moonlighting at a second job, I'm not surprised at the outcome. Police officers are rightfully taught to shoot to kill. I really hope this happens but I have a feeling that it will be hobbled in some way. If it runs from an iTunes master copy of songs then it might preclude people uploading music that has been ripped from CDs or bought somewhere else (like Amazon).

True, but I doubt Apple will put them in their machines and/or peripherals. I'd love to keep a third offsite backup of my information with BDXL, and I can with 3rd party hardware.
I think one of the biggest things holding me back though is the price of the discs.
BDXL is very new. There's just one drive model.
After they are done adding layers to BD, it will be time for the holographic disks.

This is total BS. We should have been informed of this and a way to turn it off or delete the file on our own. As for the poster above who stated it only goes to your computer, I highly doubt it.
